I was perusing Pinterest the other day and came across a photo of a really super cute crochet bracelet. At first glance, it appeared very doable, and since its been quite a while since I’ve had a cute crochet project, I thought I would give it a shot.
I believe that most people would agree that one of the most attractive parts of Pinterest is that typically if a person is to see a photo of some recipe or craft that they like, all they would have to do is CLICK on the photo and voila! They are automatically transported to the properly corresponding website. There a person can be assured to find the DIRECTIONS on how to accomplish a reasonable facsimile of the product on the photo.
It may disappoint you then, as it did me, to realize that upon clicking on that photo, all I was gifted with was a LARGER VERSION of that photo. I’m going to tell you that was only minutely helpful. At the ensuing mental crossroads, I made the decision to attempt the look myself, with no outside direction.
My first attempt was not awful, actually. I used a ‘G’ crochet hook, and a cute combination of blue and dark gray Peaches and Cream brand cotton yarn. I did enough chains to wrap around my wrist five times, and then added a single crochet to the chains. At the end, I added two pewter feather charms to accent the dark gray.
My favorite so far is my second attempt. This time I used an even smaller hook, ‘F’ size, and concentrated on making a very small, tight chain. This I also sized to wrap around my wrist five times. I also did not add the single crochet, in keeping with a slimmer, tighter look. I used the red cotton yarn from Peaches and Cream. Once I was done I added one of my favorite buttons to add just the right amount of detail. I’m dead serious, this will be something I wear on a daily basis. In fact, I’m fairly certain I’m going to make at least three more in different colors and with different charms. I may even take requests if I can bear to part with them!
