I’ve wanted to put together a great strawberry recipe for a couple weeks now, and I think I’ve finally got it! I love this dish for many reasons. First, strawberries are in season, and a signature fruit to usher in summer. Second, this is the perfect carry-in dish for any summer party you may decide to attend. You don’t need a fork or knife, you don’t need to carry around a plate. You just pick up an adorable little stick and you get the perfect bite every time.
I cannot, in good conscience, call this a real ‘recipe.’ There is no cooking involved, and there are only four ingredients. But whatever this is, it certainly is yummy!
I found a nice loaf shaped angel food cake at my grocery store, and cut it into small bite sized squares. The squares really should be about a half an inch big because the whole point of this little dessert is to make it a single perfect bite.
I cut some beautiful strawberries into bite sized pieces and used a toothpick to skewer a piece. Then I skewered a piece of the angel food and used it as a base. From there it’s just a simple matter of giving the morsel a puff of whipped cream, and topping it off with some sprinkles. I picked blue because the red and white elements are already present, and 4th of July is coming up anyway!
